How to Draw a Giraffe

In height, giraffes can reach about 6 m, that is, the height of a two-story house. Giraffes have very long legs and necks. It is because of the long legs that giraffes run very fast. On the head, giraffes have two small horns covered with short hair.

How to Draw a Giraffe
- Add basic markup.
Depict, with the help of auxiliary lines, the location of the head and torso. Draw a circle and two oval-like shapes.
- Add guidelines.
Draw the markings for the front and hind limbs of the giraffe using thin, straight lines. Add lines for the neck and back of the giraffe.
- Draw the outlines of the giraffe’s head and ears.
Beside the previously drawn circle, add some curved lines to draw the front of the giraffe’s head, and also add two symmetrical ears.
- Sketch out the horns and eyes of the giraffe.
Depict two horns at the top of the giraffe’s head using an arc and curved lines. Add two dotted eyes on the sides of the head.
- Add the contour of the chest and neck.
Draw a straight line from the bottom of the head to the giraffe’s chest, and a curved line from the chest to the forelegs.
- Sketch out the belly and front paws of the giraffe.
Draw a curved line across the bottom of the giraffe’s torso, and add the outlines of the giraffe’s paws and hooves using curved lines.
- Add the outlines of the giraffe’s hind legs.
Now you should draw curved lines around the previously drawn markings, as shown in the figure. The other partially covers one paw.
- Draw the tail and hooves of the hind legs.
Next to the giraffe’s previously drawn hind limbs, draw the tail using curved lines. Add the hooves at the bottom of the paws.
- Add the outline of the mane and nostrils of the giraffe.
Depict a curved line over the giraffe’s neck as shown. Draw two dots at the bottom of the giraffe’s head.
- Finish drawing the mane, add decorative elements.
Inside the previously drawn mane draw many short lines, on the neck of the giraffe depict the spots of different sizes using curved lines.
- Add the spots on the body of the giraffe.
Now you should depict a lot of the spots of various shapes and sizes, placing them on the back, chest, and side of the body.
- Finish drawing the decorative elements.
Add the spots on the front and hind legs of the giraffe. These spots are smaller than previously drawn.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Before you start coloring the giraffe, remove the auxiliary lines from the body of the animal using the eraser.
- Color the drawing.
To color the giraffe, use different shades of brown. Draw the body of the giraffe in light brown, and the spots, hooves and mane in dark.
