How to Draw Mr. Krabs

With the help of our detailed instructions, you will learn how to draw Mr. Krabs. This is the hero of the cartoon “SpongeBob SquarePants”. Mr. Krabs have tall eye stalks, large pincers, and short, pointed legs.
Mr. Krabs usually wears a blue T-shirt, blue pants, and a wide belt with a buckle. This character looks very funny and unusual.
Now take your art supplies and start following all the steps in this instruction sequentially.
Step 1: Sketch the base of Mr. Krabs
Set the size and position of the cartoon character on the page. Use a thin line to sketch a broad triangular body shape with noticeably rounded corners.

Step 2: Draw the first eye stalk
From the top of the body, draw one long and narrow eye stalk. Add the rounded eye at its tip, place the pupil inside, and outline the short curved eyelash above it.

Step 3: Add Mr. Krabs’s second eye
Sketch the second eye stalk beside the first one, keeping both forms similar in height and width. Complete the eye with a pupil and add the small curved eyelash at the top.

Step 4: Refine the crab character’s upper body
Trace the upper sides of the body with darker curved lines, following the initial shape. Between the eye stalks, draw Mr. Krabs’s pointed nose with a short zigzag contour.

Step 5: Outline Mr. Krabs’s smiling mouth
Use two broad curved lines to shape the open smiling mouth. Inside it, outline the upper and lower rows of large rectangular teeth, keeping the divisions clearly visible.

Step 6: Complete the lower head outline
Draw a long curved line beneath the mouth to form the lower edge of the head. Add the short angular cheek contour at the side, connecting it naturally to the outer body line.

Step 7: Draw the shirt and collar
Outline the sides and lower edge of the shirt across the middle of the body. At the top, draw two triangular collar sections and add the short sleeves on both sides.

Step 8: Draw the first crab claw
Extend a thin curved arm from one sleeve, then draw the crab claw at its end. Form the claw with a rounded outer section and two separated pincers.

Step 9: Sketch the second claw
Repeat the same construction on the opposite side of the SpongeBob character. Draw the narrow arm first, then add the rounded claw and separate its two large pincers.

Step 10: Add Mr. Krabs’s belt and pants
Trace the lower body around the original guidelines. Draw the wide belt across the waist, place a rectangular buckle in the center, and add the short bases of the legs below.

Step 11: Draw the cartoon crab’s legs
Below the pants, draw two short legs ending in pointed feet. Angle the feet in opposite directions and keep the simple shapes close to the lower edge of the body.

Step 12: Finish the Mr. Krabs line drawing
Erase the remaining construction lines from the body and clothing. Correct any uneven contours, then strengthen the final outlines of the eyes, face, claws, clothes, and legs.

Step 13: Color the SpongeBob character
Color Mr. Krabs’s body and claws red, leaving the eyes light. Use pale blue for the shirt, dark blue for the pants, black for the belt, and yellow for the buckle.
