How to Draw Gumball

We continue drawing popular characters and in this tutorial we will show you how to draw Gumball. This is the main character of the animated series The Amazing World of Gumball. Gumball is represented as a kitten with light blue fur.
Gumball has a large head, expressive eyes, and a very small torso. Thanks to such proportions, it looks very unusual and funny. If all the art supplies are already at the ready, then you can start drawing.
Step 1: Sketch Gumball’s basic body shapes
Draw a large circle to establish Gumball’s head. Below it, add two smaller rounded shapes for the chest and pelvis, then connect them with a short curved line through the center of the body.

Step 2: Add simple limbs and tail
Use thin curved lines to mark the positions of Gumball’s arms and legs. Add short shapes for the hands and feet, then extend another curved line from the side of the body for the tail.

Step 3: Outline Gumball’s head and ears
Refine the round construction shape into Gumball’s recognizable head, adding the small cheek curves near the bottom. Draw two short pointed ears at the top and add curved lines inside them.

Step 4: Draw the cartoon eyes and eyebrows
Inside the head, draw the large oval eyes close together and add a small pupil inside each one. Place two short curved eyebrows above the eyes.

Step 5: Add Gumball’s nose and mouth
Draw the small oval nose beneath the eyes, then outline the open mouth with a wide curved shape. Add one tooth at the top and a rounded tongue inside.

Step 6: Define the cartoon torso and sweater
Use the construction shapes to outline Gumball’s short torso. Draw the curved neckline and lower edge of the sweater, then add smooth side contours connecting the upper body to the hips.

Step 7: Draw Gumball’s first arm
Follow the guideline to outline the first arm. Add the short sweater sleeve, shape the narrow forearm, and draw the rounded hand resting near Gumball’s side.

Step 8: Outline the raised arm and hand
Draw the second sleeve and outline the raised forearm along the earlier guide. At the end, draw the open hand with a rounded palm and four separated fingers.

Step 9: Draw Gumball’s pants and upper legs
Outline the wide waistband and rounded sides of Gumball’s pants around the pelvis. From the lower edge, draw the short upper legs with simple tapered contours.

Step 10: Add the feet and toes
Outline the lower legs, then draw two large oval feet at the bottom of the character. Use several short curved strokes across the front of each foot to indicate Gumball’s toes.

Step 11: Draw the cartoon tail and whiskers
Use two smooth curved lines to outline Gumball’s tail, making it wider near the body and rounded at the tip. Add three short whiskers to each cheek.

Step 12: Clean up the Gumball line drawing
Erase the remaining construction circles and limb guidelines from the cartoon character. Refine the head, face, clothing, hands, feet, and tail so only the finished outlines remain.

Step 13: Color the Gumball drawing
Color Gumball’s fur blue and use beige for the muzzle and sweater. Make the cuffs gray, the pants brown, and the shoes black, then add pink inside the ears and red inside the mouth.

Gumball is now complete, with his familiar blue fur, expressive face, sweater, and rounded cartoon forms. Continue with another feline subject by drawing a kawaii cat.
