How to Draw CatDog

If you want to learn how to sketch an unusual creature, we recommend checking out our new tutorial on how to draw CatDog. This animal has a cat’s head on one end and a dog’s head on the other.
The cat is grumpy, and the dog is kind and cheerful. Despite their different personalities, the cat and the dog are good friends. If all the art supplies are already at the ready, then proceed to the tutorial.
Step 1: Sketch the basic CatDog guidelines
Draw two circles a short distance apart to establish CatDog’s two heads. Connect them with a long, gently curved line that marks the upper edge and direction of the shared body.

Step 2: Mark CatDog’s legs
Extend two thin curved guidelines downward near the cat side and two more near the dog side. These lines establish the positions and bends of the cartoon character’s four legs.

Step 3: Draw Cat’s head, ears, and eyes
Use several short lines to shape the top of Cat’s head and form the two pointed ears. Inside the circular guide, draw the cat eyes and curved eyebrows.

Step 4: Add Cat’s nose, mouth, and whiskers
Below the eyes, draw Cat’s large oval nose and extend curved lines around it to form the muzzle. Continue by outlining the wide mouth, then add long whiskers.

Step 5: Outline Dog’s head and floppy ear
Shape the top of Dog’s head with smooth curves and add the long ear hanging behind it. Draw two oval eyes, place the eyebrows above them, and add a small tuft of fur on the crown.

Step 6: Draw Dog’s muzzle and teeth
Extend the front of Dog’s face into a long rounded muzzle and add a large circular nose at the tip. Outline the open mouth beneath it and use short curved lines to separate the upper teeth.

Step 7: Outline CatDog’s shared body
Follow the original connecting guideline to draw the lower edge of CatDog’s long body. Use one continuous curved contour to join the underside of Cat’s head to the underside of Dog’s head.

Step 8: Draw Cat’s legs and paws
Build Cat’s two legs around the guidelines, widening them slightly near the body. At the lower ends, draw the cat paws and divide each one into toes.

Step 9: Complete Dog’s legs and paws
Outline Dog’s two legs around the remaining curved guides, matching their bent positions. Form broad paws at the ends and add several short lines to separate the visible toes.

Step 10: Add CatDog’s body markings
Use smooth irregular curves to draw several markings across CatDog’s shared torso. Vary their size and shape, placing the larger patches near the center and smaller ones closer to the heads.

Step 11: Refine the CatDog line drawing
Erase the circular head shapes, leg guides, and connecting body line where they remain visible. Redraw any interrupted edges to leave clean contours around both faces, the torso, and the paws.

Step 12: Color the complete cartoon drawing
Fill CatDog’s main body with bright yellow and color the irregular patches brown. Use burgundy for Cat’s nose, blue for Dog’s nose, white for the eyes and teeth, and pink inside the mouths.

The guide has come to an end, and now you have learned how to draw one of the most unusual cartoon characters – CatDog. For another hybrid creature, continue by drawing Catbug.
