How to Draw a Care Bear

Here is a clear and easy-to-follow guide on how to draw a Care Bear – one of the characters from the popular cartoon.
Each bear features a unique symbol on its tummy that reflects its personality and serves as a source of magical power.
In this tutorial, we will draw a blue bear with a cloud and raindrops on its tummy; this is a grumpy bear who works as a mechanic and can fix absolutely anything.
Step 1: Sketch the Care Bear’s head and body
Draw a large oval for the Care Bear’s head. Below it, use a long curved line to mark the rounded torso, keeping the first construction shapes light and simple.

Step 2: Mark the simple arms and legs
Add four thin curved guidelines around the torso to establish the positions of the Care Bear’s arms and legs. Bend the lines to match the character’s seated pose.

Step 3: Outline the Care Bear’s head shape
Trace the head around the oval guide, adding small tufts of fur along the cheeks and crown. Draw two rounded ears at the sides and include the inner ear contours.

Step 4: Add the bear’s eyes and eyebrows
Inside the head, draw two tall oval eyes with small pupils and highlights. Add short curved eyebrows above them to form the Care Bear’s friendly facial expression.

Step 5: Add the Care Bear’s muzzle and nose
Outline the rounded muzzle across the lower face. In its center, draw the heart-shaped nose, then add the smiling mouth and several small muzzle dots.

Step 6: Add the first arm and tongue
Build the first raised arm around its curved guide, giving it a soft rounded shape. At the open mouth, add the small tongue with a short curved contour.

Step 7: Complete the Care Bear’s second arm
Outline the second arm around the remaining guide. Keep the limb broad near the shoulder, narrow it slightly toward the wrist, and finish the end with a rounded paw.

Step 8: Define the torso and belly
Follow the original body guide to outline the Care Bear’s rounded sides. Inside the torso, draw a large oval belly patch that fills most of the central body area.

Step 9: Draw the Care Bear’s rain cloud symbol
Inside the belly patch, draw a cloud from a row of rounded curves. Beneath it, add several large teardrop-shaped raindrops to complete the character’s belly badge.

Step 10: Outline the Care Bear’s first leg
Draw the first lower leg around its bent guideline. Form a broad rounded foot at the end, directing it outward from the body and adding a short line to define the sole.

Step 11: Add the second simplified leg
Shape the second leg around the opposite guideline, keeping it rounded and slightly bent. Complete the lower end with another broad foot and a short curved sole line.

Step 12: Refine the Care Bear line drawing
Erase the initial head, torso, and limb guides. Restore any interrupted contours and leave clean lines around the face, ears, paws, belly patch, and rain cloud symbol.

Step 13: Color your drawing of Care Bear
Color the Care Bear’s fur light blue and use a paler shade for the muzzle and belly. Fill the nose, ears, and tongue with pink, then color the cloud and raindrops in darker blues.
