How to Draw a Pig
In this very simple nine-step instruction, we will show you how to draw a pig, one of the most famous animals in the world.
As you can see, we decided to draw a classic domestic pig. Unlike wild brethren, this type of pig does not have fluffy hair or fangs. This species was domesticated over 12,000 years ago in the Middle East and has since become an integral part of the rural culture of many countries. During these long years of breeding, domestic pigs have acquired exactly the appearance that is familiar to us all.
Prepare your favorite tools, be it pencils and paper, or your favorite electronic tablet, and start the instructing on how to draw a pig.
Step 1
To draw a pig, you must first imagine its body in the form of simple geometric shapes. Start by drawing a circle for the head and torso as a long oval.
Step 2
Now draw the front legs. Draw the vertical lines of the legs first, then the hooves. Note that the leg that is closer to us almost overlaps the other leg.
Step 3
Now do the same for the hind legs. Note that the hind legs are thicker than the front legs and have more curves. The hooves on the hind legs look exactly the same as on the front.
Step 4
Now go back to the head again to depict the big ears. The ear that is closer to us is turned in our direction, and the ear that is far from us we see from the side.
Step 5
Draw the snout with two slightly curved lines and one round shape. By the way, if you are not sure about the proportionality of your pig drawing, you can look at it through the mirror to see all the errors and inaccuracies.
Step 6
Draw a circular nostril on the snout. Depict the line of the mouth just below the snout. Draw a small pig’s eye and move to the seventh stage.
Step 7
Draw a short tail with a couple of simple lines. By the way, in our example, the tail is straight, but you can draw a curly tail like in cartoons. Use two lines to connect the head to the torso, forming the neck.
Step 8
Carefully get rid of all the construction lines from the pig drawing. You can darken the lines of the sketch to make it look more complete and clear.
Step 9
Use a light pink color to paint the pig’s skin. A slightly darker pink should be used for the snout and inner ear surface. At the very end, paint the eye, leaving a highlight in it.
To complement the drawing, you can draw a pig in its natural environment. In addition, you can try to draw a pig from other points of view. It will help you improve your drawing skills and teach you how to draw animals more consciously and fully.
