How to Draw Daredevil
In this tutorial we will show you how to draw Daredevil, a superhero lawyer who protects New York City from villains at night.
To give your Daredevil drawing a more comic book look, we’ll go over the basic steps for creating comic book characters.
We’ll show you how to create a convincing silhouette starting from the skeleton, adding the necessary details and elements to create a recognizable superhero image.
How to Draw Daredevil Step-by-Step
Step 1: Draw the Basic Skeleton of Daredevil
Start by sketching the basic skeleton of Daredevil. Draw an oval for the head, a line for the spine, and add circles and lines for the arms and legs. This framework will serve as a guide for the character’s pose.
Step 2: Outline the Torso and Head
Use the skeleton to outline Daredevil’s torso and head shape. Draw the chest area wider, tapering down to the waist. Begin defining the head’s shape, connecting it smoothly to the body.
Step 3: Add the Shoulders and Upper Arms
Begin drawing the shoulders and arms, following the initial skeleton structure. Create rounded shapes for the shoulders and cylindrical forms for the upper arms and forearms to start building muscle definition.
Step 5: Outline the Legs of Daredevil
Move to the legs of Daredevil, using the initial guides to outline the thighs and lower legs. Draw the thighs wider at the top and taper them as they go down toward the knees. Outline the calves and ankles.
Step 5: Refine the Face Details
Draw the face of Daredevil using the facial guidelines from the second step. Outline the eyes, nose, and mouth. To sketch the face more confidently, check out our face drawing tutorial.
Step 6: Draw the Mask and Horns of Daredevil
After that, draw the mask opening as in our example. Then, refine the outlines of the head with more clean lines. After that, draw the hors at the top of the head.
Step 7: Detail the Torso
Start defining the muscles on the chest of Daredevil, to give it shape. Draw the pectoral muscles, abs and trapezius muscles. Outline the costume details in this area, like the belt, without adding intricate designs yet.
Step 8: Detail the Arms
Use curved lines to outline the biceps, triceps, and forearm muscles, adding subtle lines for a realistic look. Refine the fists, make them look more natural. Draw the Daredevil’s weapon in his left hand.
Step 9: Detail the Legs
Now, shift your attention to Daredevil’s legs. Add definition to the thigh and calf muscles, using smooth lines to create more realistic appearance. Draw subtle details for the knee area and ankles.
Step 10: Erase the Guidelines and Add the “DD” Logo
With the main body details in place, erase any remaining guidelines to clean up your Daredevil drawing. Carefully add Daredevil’s iconic “DD” logo on the chest, positioning it centrally.
Step 11: Color the Drawing of Daredevil
Fill in Daredevil’s drawing with a solid red color for his costume. Use slightly darker shades to add shadows in areas like the muscles and folds in the costume. Add lighter shades where highlights are needed.
Daredevil has a very interesting and recognizable look. In order to train your skill in creating this character, try to practice drawing Daredevil in different costumes and poses. Also practice drawing Matt Murdock in interesting environments.
