How to Draw a Sheep
In this really easy guide, you will learn how to draw a sheep step by step. This drawing guide consists of fourteen steps.
You can use this drawing as the main subject of your artwork or place it in a farm or countryside scene.
Sheep are one of the most common farm animals. They are raised in many countries around the world. Most sheep are white, but some breeds have brown or black wool.
Both males and females can have horns, although they are usually much smaller in females. Using the steps, you’ll draw a sheep standing in side view with a fluffy coat.

How to Draw a Sheep
- Draw the outline of the head and guidelines for drawing the torso.
Depict the head in the form of a figure similar to a circle. Add two shapes using dashed lines. These figures will help define the torso.
- Add the guidelines.
Connect the outlines of the head and torso with straight lines, and add lines to indicate the location of the hind and front legs.
- Depict the front of the sheep’s head.
Near the previously drawn outline of the head, depict the front of the sheep’s head and its mouth using curved lines.
- Add the facial features.
Inside the outline of the head, draw an eye using arcs of different sizes, and also draw the nostril as the large dot.
- Sketch out the ears of the sheep.
On the sides of the previously drawn sheep’s head, draw two ears pointing in different directions. For this, you should use curved lines.
- Draw the front of the sheep’s body.
To depict the front of the sheep’s body and its wool, use many rounded lines of different lengths.
- Add the elements of the front paws of the sheep.
Near the previously drawn auxiliary lines, draw several curved lines, as shown in the figure.
- Depict the hooves on the front paws.
Connect the lower ends of the previously drawn curved lines with a few more curved lines to represent the sheep’s hooves.
- Sketch out the middle part of the sheep’s torso.
Depict many rounded lines of different sizes, as shown in the figure, to draw the back and belly of the sheep.
- Add the back of the sheep’s torso.
Near the oval, with which the back of the sheep’s body is indicated, draw many short, curved lines, as shown in the figure.
- Draw the outlines of the hind legs.
Near the guidelines that represent the hind legs, add curved lines as shown.
- Depict the hooves on the hind legs.
Now you should add some curved lines to draw the hooves and complete the hind legs.
- Erase extra lines.
Use the eraser to remove any unnecessary guidelines from the drawing.
- Color the drawing.
To color the sheep, use shades of gray as well as black. To make the drawing look more realistic, add shadows and highlights.
