How to Draw a Chinchilla

1. Prepare baselines.

   Draw a circle to represent the head. Add the main part of the body with a semicircular line and depict another semicircular line, this will be the back of the body.

2. Add other parts of the body.

   With the help of short thin lines depict the position of the limbs, the contour of the tail and add the ears on the head.

3. Detail the head.

   Carefully trace the head along the contour, while giving it the desired shape. Add the fur on the ears. Draw the eyes and nose.

4. Start adding the outline of the torso.

   Focusing on the auxiliary lines, draw the back and front of the torso. Use short strokes to depict individual spiky strands of the fur.

5. Draw the front paws.

   Use the guidelines as a guide and draw two short legs in the lower part of the body. Add the fingers at the bottom.

6. Depict the hind legs.

   The chinchilla has very short hind legs, which are almost always bent. Try to correctly depict the shape of the hind paw.

7. Sketch out the tail.

   Carefully trace the tail along the contour, giving it the desired shape. With the help of short strokes, depict individual spiky strands of wool at the tip of the tail.

8. Detail the color.

   Now you need to add the spots on the chinchilla’s body. With the help of lines of different shapes, draw the contour where the color of the fur will differ.

9. Correct inaccuracies.

   Compare the drawing with our example and if you notice inaccuracies, then immediately correct them. Carefully remove unnecessary lines in your drawing.

10. Color the drawing.

    For fur coloring you will need different gray walls and black color for eyes and nose. Try to make smooth transitions between shades.
