How to Draw a Beetle
- Prepare the base.
Depict the main body parts of the beetle using thin lines. First draw the head in the form of a circle and then add an oval torso.
- Mark the position of the remaining parts.
Using thin curved lines, depict the position of the paws and spikes on the head. Determine the position of the wings.
- Detail the head.
Carefully trace the head along the contour, giving it the desired shape. Draw a few pointed spikes that are located symmetrically.
- Draw the front paws.
Use the guidelines as a guide and draw two front paws, which consist of several elements of different shapes.
- Add the rest of the body.
At the bottom, draw a semicircular line to outline the rest of the body and draw a few stripes to indicate the relief on the back.
- Sketch out the wings.
This step will require you to be careful and accurate, because the wings must be exactly the same size and shape. First draw the outer outline, then add the membranes.
- Depict the rest of the paws.
At the bottom, add two more thin paws, which consist of several elements connected to each other.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Now all the main contours are ready, and you can evaluate the result of your work. Correct the mistakes if necessary and remove any extra lines in your drawing.
- Color the drawing.
You will need different shades of gray and brown. Highlight the dark areas and paint the membranes on the wings with a darker color.
