How to Draw an Australian Shepherd

This dog has a muscular body, a thick coat, and medium-sized ears that hang naturally. Its coat often has a merle pattern, and some Australian Shepherds have different-colored eyes.

How to Draw an Australian Shepherd
- Draw the baselines.
Mark the position of the main parts of the dog’s body, for this draw rounded shapes at a certain distance from each other. Keep proportions.
- Define the contours of the body.
Draw connecting lines between the head and the thoracic region, then between the thoracic region and the pelvis. Depict the tail with smooth lines.
- Mark the position of the limbs.
Using thin lines, mark the position of the front and hind limbs. Sketch out the folds as large dots.
- Add the ears and the front of the head.
Draw two hanging ears on the sides of the head. Outline the front of the muzzle. Depict the nose and protruding tongue.
- Draw the eyes and hair on the muzzle.
Keep adding details and in this step draw two eyes, make the contour of the lower part of the muzzle more defined and add the fur on the sides with jagged lines.
- Detail the nose and ears.
Use the lines you drew in the previous steps as a guide and trace the outline of the ears and nose, giving them the correct shape.
- Depict the fur on the chest.
Use smooth curved lines and depict the spiky strands of wool on the chest. This part of the body has a triangular shape.
- Continue adding the fur.
With the help of jagged lines, depict individual strands of fur on the back, on the tail and on the lower part of the body.
- Draw the front paws.
Focus on the auxiliary lines and depict two front paws, draw the strands of fur at the top and draw fingers at the bottom.
- Sketch out the hind legs.
The principle of drawing the hind legs is the same as in the previous step. Now you have to give the hind legs the desired shape and thickness, add strands of the fur and draw fingers.
- Detail the color.
In this step, depict a marble color, for this, use jagged lines. Draw the spots on different parts of the dog’s body.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Now you can evaluate the result of your work. If you notice any inaccuracies, correct them. Delete the guidelines on your drawing.
- Color the drawing.
For coloring, we need different shades of brown and gray. Also use black and pink. Highlight the dark areas so that your drawing is realistic.
