How to Draw a Goose
In this lesson, we will show you how to draw a goose – a bird whose appearance is known to everyone.
The process of drawing a goose will be similar to the process of drawing a duck or a chicken since outwardly these birds have a lot in common.
To start this tutorial on how to draw a goose, you need a standard set of a pencil, paper, and eraser. Also, you can use any graphic tablet.
How to Draw a Goose
Step 1 – Sketch the Head and Torso
Firstly, determine the position of the head and torso of the goose. Draw a small circle for the head of the goose. After that, draw a large oval for the body of the bird.
Step 2 – Draw the Neck of the Goose
Combine the head and torso of the goose with two parallel lines to indicate the position of the neck. Notice how the neck bends and tilts the head slightly.
Step 3 – Draw the Beak of the Goose
Now let’s move on to the beak. Draw a sharp triangle and position it on the right side of the circle of the head. After that, draw an uneven line between the beak and head.
Step 4 – Draw the Eye and Nostril
Draw the eye in the upper part of the head with a small circle. Then draw a clear line along the bird’s beak. This line will mark the length of the mouth. After that, above the line of the mouth, draw a small line – this will be the nostril of the goose.
Step 5 – Detail the Body
Draw a line under the torso in the shape of a semicircle. This will add volume to the goose drawing. Using short lines draw the tail of the goose.
Step 6 – Draw the Wing
First of all, draw the outlines of the wing using a long and smooth line. To make the wing more realistic, add feather lines.
Step 7 – Draw the Legs of the Goose
To draw legs, use parallel vertical lines. On the left leg, outline a small process, and just below make a thickening. Try to repeat the shape of the legs as close as possible.
Step 8 – Draw the Feet of the Goose
Let’s continue drawing the legs. Draw lines parallel to the body of the goose to form the outlines of the feet. Draw stable feet and long toes.
Step 9 – Add Some Feathers
Draw the feathers on the lower torso and the front wing. Our goose feathers look like triangular shapes. Arrange the feathers in a row and so that they follow each other.
Step 10 – Erase the Guidelines
Remove the extra lines from the goose drawing. Erase the bases of the original ovals. Make the silhouette of the bird clearer and more harmonious. In addition, you can trace your goose drawing with darker lines. Let’s prepare the goose shapes for color filling.
Step 11 – Color the Goose Drawing
It’s time to paint our bird. Use white with cream shades as the main color. Paint the beak and paws with dark yellow or light brown. Add soft shadows to the bottom line of the torso and neck.
