How to Draw a Clown

1. Prepare the base.

   Determine the position of the spine, head, thoracic region and pelvic region. To do this, draw several shapes of different shapes at some distance from each other.

2. Add the limbs.

   Use thin, straight lines to define the position of the clown’s arms and legs. Designate all joints as large dots.

3. Draw the contours of the body.

   Depict smooth lines between the head and torso to represent the neck. Also draw connecting lines between the thoracic region and the pelvic region.

4. Depict the outline of the hands.

   Give the hands the necessary thickness, to do this, depict the individual parts of the hands in the form of cylinders. Designate the joints as circles and add the outline of the hands.

5. Sketch out the outline of the legs.

   Use guidelines and draw the upper and lower parts of the legs. Add the feet and draw the knee joints as circles.

6. Draw the elements of the head.

   With the help of jagged wavy lines depict the lush hair, mark the contour of the face and draw the hat on the top of the head.

7. Add elements of the face.

   Now you can start detailing the face. In this step, draw the eyes, eyebrows, round nose, mouth, and with a smooth line draw the outline of the makeup in the lower part of the face.

8. Start drawing the clothes.

   With the help of smooth lines, depict the wide curly collar, draw the shoulders, add the sides of the clothes along the edges of the torso.

9. Depict the sleeves.

   Draw smooth lines down from the shoulders and draw the wide short sleeves with cuffs. Then add the lower parts of the arms.

10. Sketch out the hands.

    Now you can add the hands. Be careful and try to depict the hands in the same position as in our example.

11. Draw the lower part of the body.

    Now you have to draw the bottom part of the stage costume. Continue the lines and add the short wide pants. At the bottom draw the shins.

12. Add the shoes.

    Draw the stage shoes. Usually the clown has wide shoes that have the low sole and the large round toe. It looks funny.

13. Detail the hair and clothes.

    On the hair, draw jagged wavy lines to indicate individual strands. On the clothes, draw the thin strokes to depict the folds of the fabric.

14. Correct inaccuracies.

    If you find errors, correct them now. Use the eraser to remove any extra lines on your drawing and prepare it for coloring.

15. Color the drawing.

    In this tutorial, use the brightest colors. For coloring clothes, red, blue, purple, and orange are ideal.
