How to Draw an Allosaurus

Allosaurus moved on powerful hind legs, while its forelimbs were relatively small. It had large claws, sharp teeth, and a long, muscular tail that helped it maintain balance and change direction while chasing prey.

How to Draw an Allosaurus
- Prepare the base.
Draw individual parts of the body in the form of rounded figures. Draw connecting lines between the figures. Smooth lines indicate the position of the tail.
- Sketch out the limbs.
With the help of several straight lines depict the position of the front and hind limbs. Mark the places of the folds in the form of large dots.
- Depict the head.
Continue to give the body of the Allosaurus the desired shape and in this step draw the head. At the top, add the small spikes, draw the eye, the nostril, and draw the mouth with a smooth line.
- Add the outline of the torso.
Use the lines you drew earlier as a guide and start shaping the body of the Allosaurus. Draw the outline of the neck, back, tail and lower torso.
- Draw the forelimbs.
Focus on the auxiliary lines and draw the short front paws. Draw the long fingers and sharp claws.
- Depict the hind limbs.
With the help of smooth curved lines, give the hind limbs the desired shape and thickness. Draw the fingers below and add the claws.
- Detail the color.
Draw a smooth wavy line along the body of the Allosaurus to outline where the color of the body will differ. Add some cross stripes at the tip of the tail.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Take the eraser and carefully erase all the extra lines in your drawing. Correct the mistakes if necessary, thus preparing the drawing for coloring.
- Color the drawing.
For coloring, you will need different shades of brown and gray. Remember to highlight the dark areas to make your drawing look more realistic.
