How to Draw an Ant

In this guide, we will tell you how to draw an ant. We tried to make a simple lesson that will be available even to novice artists. At the same time, we tried to deviate a little from the cartoon style and create a more realistic drawing.

 

Step 1

Probably everyone knows what an ant’s face looks like. We cannot say how much the faces of different ants differ from each other, but we tried to depict the basic elements of the face.

Ants are pretty fast guys. To move quickly, ants use mobile, flexible legs. So let’s draw the rounded proximal legs in this step.

So we continue the guide on how to draw an ant. The proximal segments of our ant’s legs are directed upward. It looks like several sticks that taper smoothly.

Step 6

So in this step, we sketch out the distal parts of the ant’s paws. These are long, slender limbs that taper even more distally. The paws of the opposite side are visually smaller due to the peculiarities of the angle.

Step 7

There are many variations of colored appearances among ants. We decided to choose a basic version of the ant’s appearance. Here you can see several shades of brown and black in the eye. By the way, don’t forget about the white highlight inside the eye.
