How to Draw a Salmon
- Draw the main outline of the body.
Determine the size of your drawing and draw an elongated oval with a thin line. Thus, you designate the outline of the body of the fish.
- Start drawing the head.
Draw a smooth curved line from the top edge and depict the upper part of the mouth. Try to correctly repeat the shape of this part of the head.
- Depict the bottom of the head.
Continue to draw smaller details and draw the lower part of the head in the same way as you did in the previous step.
- Sketch out the eye.
This will be a very simple step in which you will draw a small circle and add the small round pupil inside.
- Draw the back of the torso.
On the right side, add the narrow, thin end of the torso. To do this, continue the lines along the upper and lower edges of the oval and connect them at one point.
- Add the tail.
Continue drawing the back of the salmon’s body and add the tail in the same shape as in our example. Try to keep all proportions.
- Draw the fins.
When the main contour of the body is drawn, then you can start drawing the fins. On the back, draw one large triangular fin and place one small fin closer to the tail. At the bottom, draw three fins of different shapes.
- Depict the gills and detail the fins.
At the bottom of the fish’s head, draw curved lines. On the tail and on the fins, draw thin lines in sequence.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Now you must carefully remove all extra lines on your drawing to prepare it for coloring.
- Color the salmon.
For coloring, you will need several shades of gray. Color the tail and fins with a lighter shade and do not forget to add shadows where necessary.
