How to Draw a Quail

The quail has a variegated color. Some types of quails have a small crest on the top of their head. As usual, you will start drawing with thin lines and gradually add clarity and expressiveness to your drawing.

How to Draw a Quail
- Prepare the base.
Draw the main parts of the body in the form of figures of different sizes, while being careful and respect the proportions.
- Draw the wing tail and paws.
In the middle of the body, draw the oval-shaped wing, add the tail with curved lines, and use two straight lines to determine the position of the paws.
- Sketch out the head.
Focus on the auxiliary lines and trace the head along the contour, giving it the desired shape. Draw the eye, the beak, and the crest.
- Depict the neck.
Add smooth lines down from the head and draw the sides of the neck. With the help of a wavy line depict the plumage.
- Add the torso.
Use the lines you drew earlier as a guide and trace the outline of the torso. With a wavy line, draw the plumage in the lower part of the body.
- Draw the wing.
Give the wing the desired shape and use small curved lines to depict the large feathers on the wing.
- Depict the tail.
Give the tail a natural and realistic look by drawing individual feathers using curved lines.
- Sketch out the paws.
Give the paws the desired thickness and shape. Draw the surface on which the quail stands.
- Detail the plumage.
On different parts of the body, add the small spots and outlines of feathers. Draw small stripes on the head.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Compare your drawing with our example and if you notice any mistakes, correct them at this stage. Remove all unnecessary lines.
- Color the drawing.
To color the quail, you will need different shades of brown, as well as blue, black, gray, and orange.
