How to Draw a King Cobra
- Prepare the base.
Using smooth and curved lines, indicate the position of the cobra’s body. Draw the head in the form of an oval.
- Draw the hood.
Depict the elongated oval in the upper part of the cobra’s body. At this stage, use only thin lines, which can be easily removed later.
- Begin to give the picture clarity and expressiveness.
Carefully trace the head of the cobra along the contour, giving it the desired shape. With clear lines, circle the hood and the main part of the body of the cobra. Draw the eye.
- Continue adding the outlines of the body.
In this step, you have to give the body of the cobra the desired thickness. Focus on the auxiliary lines and try to correctly depict the curves of the body.
- Add the rest of the body.
This step is similar to the previous one and here you will draw the rest of the cobra’s body. Carefully draw all the lines and try to correctly depict the bends.
- Detail the color.
With the help of jagged wavy lines, add the spots on the body of the cobra. On the hood, add the pattern that resembles glasses in shape.
- Correct inaccuracies.
The main outlines are ready, and now you can carefully remove the auxiliary lines to prepare the drawing for coloring.
- Color the drawing.
You will need different shades of brown and orange. Highlight the dark areas to make your drawing look more realistic.
