How to Draw a Human Face
- Draw the base.
Determine the location of the drawing and draw an oval. This way you will outline the outline of the human head.
- Mark up the face.
Draw two horizontal lines to indicate the position of the face elements. These lines should be very thin so that you can easily remove them later.
- Depict the eyes and ears.
Focus on the auxiliary lines and draw two almond-shaped eyes, add the irises inside. On the sides of the head draw two ears using curved lines.
- Add the eyebrows and detail the eyes.
Above the eyes, draw the eyebrows of the same shape as in our example. Add the creases on the upper and lower eyelids and draw the pupil in each eye.
- Sketch out the nose.
Draw the tip of the nose as a circle. On the sides, add the small nose holes. With the help of two smooth lines depict the upper part of the nose.
- Draw the mouth.
At the initial stage, use only thin auxiliary lines. First draw a smooth line and then add two small ovals at the top and two ovals at the bottom.
- Depict the neck.
From the head, draw down smooth lines to depict the neck. Add two more small lines on the sides to depict the upper outline of the clothes.
- Trace the elements of the head along the contour.
Now you can give the elements of the face the desired shape and make the drawing clearer. Circle the contour of the face, ears and neck, focusing on the auxiliary lines.
- Depict the hair.
With smooth lines, outline the contour of the hair on the temples and on the forehead. With the help of uneven lines of different lengths, draw the spiky strands at the crown.
- Detail the eyebrows and eyes.
Carefully circle the eyebrows along the contour, give them the desired shape and highlight individual pointed hairs. Outline the eyes and add the corners of the eyes.
- Make the eyes clearer.
Outline the irises and pupils in each eye. Also, carefully circle the folds on the upper and lower eyelids.
- Sharpen the rest of the face.
Give the upper and lower lip the desired shape, focusing on the auxiliary lines. Draw the top and bottom of the nose.
- Detail the hair.
On the head, draw thin lines of different lengths to depict the individual hairs. On the lower part of the face, draw a small stubble using short strokes.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Compare the drawing with our example and if you notice any mistakes, correct them at this stage. Remove all extra lines.
- Color the drawing.
For coloring the hair and skin, use any natural shades. Color the iris blue and the pupils black. Don’t forget to highlight the dark areas.
