How to Draw a Face from the Side
- Prepare the base.

- Start drawing the front of the face.
Draw tangent lines from the right and bottom sides of the circle. You can draw these lines yourself or use any tools at hand.
- Determine the position of the lower jaw.
Depict a horizontal line to define the position of the chin and draw a vertical line to indicate the side of the lower jaw.
- Start drawing the lower part of the face.
Use the guidelines you drew earlier and draw the lower outline of the face, the chin, and the side of the jaw.
- Mark up the face elements.
Sketch out a few straight horizontal lines to indicate the position of the eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Draw the elements of the face.
As a guide, use the lines that you drew in the previous steps and draw the eye, eyebrow, nose, lips, and chin.
- Add the rest of the outline of the head.
Depict the forehead with a smooth line, draw the outline of the hair on the crown, on the back of the head, on the forehead and on the temples. Also draw the neck and ear.
- Detail the eye.
Give the eye the necessary shape, add eyelashes and the crease of the upper eyelid. Draw small strands of the hair on the eyebrows.
- Detail the ear and the rest of the face.
Draw a natural relief in the auricle, add the upper and lower lip. Make the contour of the face and neck clearer.
- Sketch out the hair.
The main contours are ready and you can draw hair. With the help of several curved lines of different sizes, depict individual spiky strands of hair. Draw the pupil.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Compare your drawing with the example and correct any mistakes you see. Remove extra lines and prepare the drawing for coloring.
- Color the drawing.
To paint the skin, use any natural shade, color the hair with a dark color, paint the iris and lips. Add the shadows to make the drawing more realistic.
