How to Draw a Snowy Owl
In this very simple drawing instruction, we will show you how to draw a snowy owl – a very spectacular bird living in the north of our planet.
The process of drawing this bird is almost the same as depicting any other bird. Of course, there are very important distinguishing features that we will talk about in the stages below.
Step 1
Let’s start the drawing instruction on how to draw a snowy owl by portraying a head in the form of a circle and a torso in the form of a large oval.
Step 2
Now use a couple of short, flowing lines to connect the head to the torso. Now go to the lower body of this epic bird and draw the silhouette of the tail.
Step 3
After that use a long smooth line to depict the edge of the wing. Then draw the feathers using short lines. Remember that you can check the proportionality of your bird drawing by looking at it through a mirror.
Step 4
Further, go to the head and draw almond-shaped eyes. Then go down a little lower and depict a small beak, which should be located in the center of the face.
Step 5
Now go to the bottom of the torso and draw the legs. You can also check the proportionality of your owl drawing by turning it upside down.
Step 6
Continue the lines from the previous stage to draw the toes and sharp claws. You can depict some feathers at the bottom of the legs.
Step 7
To make the bird drawing more voluminous and realistic, paint texture on the feathers. Be sure to take into account the curves of the owl’s body to make the artwork look more voluminous.
Step 8
Now, very carefully, get rid of all the construction lines from your snowy owl drawing. In addition, you can darken the required lines, to make the artwork crisper.
Step 9
We painted the owl very light gray, almost white. We used gray for the beak and yellow for the eyes. To give the owl drawing a bit of dimension, add shadows in places not lit by the light.
Try to depict some additional details to give your bird drawing a more interesting look. For example, you can draw backgrounds, some trees, and animals.
