How to Draw a Horse Face

How to Draw a Horse Face
- Prepare the base.
Decide what the size of your drawing will be and depict two rounded shapes of different sizes at some distance from each other.
- Add the rest of the outlines.
Draw connecting lines between the circles and with the help of several smooth lines depict the upper body.
- Draw the sides and eyes.
Begin to give the horse face the desired shape. Focus on the auxiliary lines and make the outline on the sides clearer. Draw the small eyes and add the eyelashes.
- Depict the bottom of the muzzle.
Continue the lines and add the lower outline of the face. Draw the large nostrils with smooth curved lines.
- Sketch out the ears.
At the crown, draw two pointed erect ears and immediately add the inside of the ears.
- Start drawing the mane.
From the crown, draw down smooth lines and draw few spiky strands of the mane.
- Add the rest of the mane.
On the side of the head, depict the spiky strands of the mane using smooth curved lines. The size and shape of the strands may differ slightly from our example.
- Add the contours and folds.
Focus on the auxiliary lines and make the outline of the upper body more clear. Draw several thin lines of different sizes on the front of the muzzle.
- Detail the color.
On the muzzle and on the upper body, draw wavy lines to indicate the outline where the fur color will differ.
- Correct inaccuracies.
Take a close look at the drawing and if you notice inaccuracies, then correct them at this stage. Carefully remove the auxiliary lines.
- Color the drawing.
For coloring fur, use gray and brown. Color the mane, eyes, and nostrils with black. Highlight the dark areas to make the drawing look realistic.
